It's difficult to find a video game player who didn't fall in love with the 2009 hit Borderlands, a first-person shooter where players stockpile countless firearms in search of treasure and trouble in the form of bandits and local wildlife.
The series known for the 17-million-gun arsenal returns in Borderlands 2, a sequel that doubles down on the mayhem with more enemies, a larger world to explore and -- shockingly -- an even better assortment of crazy weaponry.
Borderlands takes place on the planet Pandora, where players searched for an ancient alien vault as one of four mercenaries. The second chapter centers on the exploits of Handsome Jack, the notorious CEO of the Hyperion Corporation who has claimed discovering of the vault and all its riches. Four new Vault Hunters enter the fray, working with a resistance group to stop Jack's plans to resurrect a powerful entity called "The Warrior."
The action franchise from studio Gearbox Software is a hybrid of the first-person shooter and role-playing game. The game itself is a FPS, but features elements of the RPG such as earning experience, leveling up and collecting gear such as shields, health packs and those magical guns.
