Will Smith kicked off the 2012 Kids’ Choice Awards by parachuting onto the stage as First Lady Michelle Obama applauded in the audience.

The annual KCAs featured performances by boy band One Direction and singer Katy Perry who sang “Part of Me.”

Perry said that she was there because she has “never grown up.”

Other attendees included Nicki Minaj, Halle Berry, Josh Hutcherson, Emma Stone and Chris Rock.

Carson Daly apologizes for gay joke

Carson Daly, host of “The Voice,” has apologized for a homophobic joke he made on his radio show while discussing the recent JetBlue pilot meltdown.

“Most of the people were on their way to some sort of security conference in Las Vegas,” Daly said of the passengers who had to restrain the pilot. “So there’s like a bunch of dudes and well trained dudes.” An American radio DJ has been forced to apologise after saying gay people would not have been able to restrain the pilot who freaked out on a JetBlue flight.

On his L.A radio show, Carson Daly, suggested gays are simply not brave enough to handle dangerous situations.
